The Art of Brewing — How We Turn Hops and Barley into Pure Liquid Gold

Beer has been part of human culture for thousands of years. From ancient Mesopotamia to modern taprooms, brewing has always been about more than just fermentation — it’s an art form. At Howdy Brewery, every batch we brew carries the same philosophy: great beer starts with passion, precision, and patience.

The Beginning: Choosing the Right Ingredients

Every masterpiece begins with the right materials. For us, that means carefully selecting the finest barley malt, fresh hops, yeast, and pure water.
Barley gives beer its body and sweetness, hops add bitterness and aroma, yeast creates magic by fermenting sugars into alcohol, and water — surprisingly — determines much of the beer’s final character. Even subtle differences in mineral content can change the taste drastically.

We partner with local farmers and trusted suppliers to ensure every ingredient meets our standards. Supporting local agriculture not only guarantees freshness but also connects our beer to the community that drinks it.

The Brewing Process: Science Meets Craft

Brewing may look like chemistry, but it’s also a form of storytelling. The process begins with malting, where barley is soaked, germinated, and dried to create the malt. The malt is then crushed and mixed with hot water during mashing, converting starches into fermentable sugars. The sweet liquid that results, called wort, is then separated and boiled.

This is where the hops come in — added at precise intervals to control bitterness, aroma, and flavor. Early hops make the beer bitter, while late additions provide aroma and floral notes. Every timing decision changes the final taste.

After boiling, the wort is cooled and transferred to a fermentation tank. Here, the yeast takes over, consuming sugars and producing alcohol and carbonation. The beer is then conditioned, filtered, and finally packaged — ready to pour into your glass.

The Result: A Brew Full of Character

Each style of beer has its own story. Our Howdy IPA is bright, hoppy, and bold — the kind of beer that wakes up your palate. Our Golden Lager is smooth, crisp, and refreshing, perfect for those who love balance and simplicity. And our Dark Stout carries rich roasted notes, ideal for cool evenings or dessert pairings.

When you sip one of our beers, you’re tasting more than hops and barley — you’re tasting our craft, our care, and our community.
